Blue dye
In the earts of the "renaissance" period Toulouse was one of the richest in europe because of the pastel trade which from Toulouse's area spread over the whole europe. Pastel merchants had become rich by exporting this plant (blue dye).

yes, et on ajoutera que le pastel a été supplanté par l'indigo, plus facile à utiliser et moins cher.
