The Crédit Municipal

The Mount of Piety of Paris, created in 1777 to allow the most stripped to escape the usurers, becomes Municipal Crédit of Toulouse last century. It is thus an institution of memory, a share of the social and economic history of the Toulousain. Known for more than two hundred years for its loans against security, it has known to adapt the needs of diversified customers and to be modernized. Confronted with realities of today.

The people who live in Toulouse (Toulousains) are very proud of their walk on the banks of the river. In front of the large and quiet course it is difficult to imagine the Pyrenean torrent at its Spanish source.

Griffoul Fountain

In the place St Etienne, one of the oldest in Toulouse, there is a fountain dating to 1546, the "Griffoul fountain". The fountain is at the centre, with the origin four little statues as globlins who peed..shocking!! In the 19 century their littles appendices were made more modest by an addition of the little dolphin.

Do Not Forget The Maggots

Fishing on the canal is a calm affair, many fisherman use a simple rod, float and a fixed line, with no reel. However, much skill is required to land large fish with such techniques. You can't obtain maggots ('asticot' or 'tima'), worms and minnows from nearby shops here in Toulouse.
