A Rather Impressive Church
In 1843, following requests by the neighbourhood, the city of Toulouse organized an architectural competition to design this church. The winning project was a neo-Gothic construction, which suited the local tastes of the time, but the Parisian Civilian Buildings' Counsel rejected the plans in favour of Auguste Delort's design. There ensued long and unpopular building work, which was never quite finished.
